Mkuru Training Camp
Mkuru Training Camp (MTC) is a field station where knowledge and good practices of water, soil, forests, wildlife and energy management are developed and promoted, in collaboration with the Mkuru community, to ensure the long term maintenance of the natural systems and thus a future to local people.
MTC was funded by Istituto Oikos, Oikos East Africa and the Mkuru Maasai community with the objective of bringing people together from all over the world to join forces with the local communities to support their challenging path towards sustainable development.
Since its establishment in 2003, more than 2500 people have been trained at MTC and more 15 university researchers have used the camp for their field studies.
At MTC everyone can contribute in building a sustainable future.
Mkuru Training Camp guests and partners can support ongoing development projects in the area, attend courses and professional trainings, conduct scientific or socio-economic research, learn about the ancient Maasai, Meru and Arusha cultures or simply find a peaceful place to get in touch with the wild African nature.
