Help us to protect endangered ecosystems in Tanzania, vote for our project

From 7th to 21st of October choose to vote the Oikos’ project on the European Outdoor Conservation Association website

The project “Prevention of human-wildlife conflict” has been selected together with other 14 initiatives that could be funded by the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA). The final phase of the selection consists in a public vote from 7th to 21st of October: with a simple and fast click you can vote our project in Tanzania.

Why do we need your support? Because in the Kilimanjaro-Amboseli ecosystem live one million mammals of 28 different species, among which 2,000 are elephants: finding a balance between the needs of the men and the wildlilfe is not easy. We want to provide effective and long-term solutions in order to guarantee a peaceful coexistence between the Maasai communities and animals

How? Through non-invasive techniques such as the installation of “Living Walls”, fences of chilli plants along the borders of the fields that move the elephants away because of the smell.
By voting this project you will also help us to set up bike ecotourism paths: an opportunity fot the local community to count on an alternative and sustainable income. Local guides will drive tourists through 50 km of trails in the heart of a unique ecosystem, completely reducing the environmental impact. In this way the local populations will become main actors for the environmental conservation on which their well-being is dependent.
